Francisco Picón has taken on the role of Investment Commissioner for the Middle East, stationed in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. President Gabriel Boric appointed him to this position, where he will cater to companies from across the region, including the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Oman, and Kuwait.
Picón’s academic background includes a law degree and a master’s in Constitutional Law from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile. He also earned a diploma in Political Strategies for Public Policy from Universidad de Chile.
His professional experience includes four years at InvestChile as a legal advisor and chief of staff. He also served as a legal advisor to the Treasury Ministry. In the private sector, he advised companies on regulatory and legislative matters at one of Chile’s leading consulting firms.
The focus areas for attracting investment to Chile from Middle Eastern countries include energy transition (transmission and green hydrogen), global services and the digital economy, food industry, infrastructure, critical minerals, and investment funds. This aligns with InvestChile’s investment promotion strategy.
InvestChile already supports several Middle Eastern companies such as Adia, Aramco, DP World, and Abdul Latif Jameel Energy.
