The motorcycle industry in Colombia reported a significant increase in new registrations, with more than 118,000 motorcycles registered during March, according to a report released on Apr. 7 by the Motorcycle Industry Chamber of ANDI and FENALCO.

The report shows that this figure represents a growth of 40.62 percent compared to the same month last year. The industry also saw an increase of 8.03 percent compared to February, indicating continued monthly demand for motorcycles. Cumulatively for the year so far, there has been a growth of 35.87 percent, marking a strong first quarter for the sector.

BAJAJ led all brands in market share during March with 17.73 percent of total registrations, followed by SUZUKI and AKT. This demonstrates ongoing competition among major brands and consumer preference for well-established names.

Regionally, Cundinamarca, Antioquia and Valle del Cauca recorded the highest numbers of new motorcycle registrations during March. Municipalities such as Sabaneta, Funza and El Cerrito were highlighted as areas where motorcycles play an important role in daily mobility and economic activities.

The report states that these results reflect both recovering demand and the strategic importance of motorcycles as an accessible transportation solution for many Colombians.
