The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society reported on Apr. 29 that its top officials took part in the annual accountability sessions of several major organizations in the telecommunications sector. These sessions highlighted management results aimed at improving digital services, connectivity, and public service.
According to the ministry, Minister Roberto Kury attended the presentations by the National Directorate of Public Registries, the General Directorate of Civil Registry, Identification and Certification, and the National Telecommunications Corporation. The main focus was on strengthening digital services and ensuring better access for citizens.
Ricardo Gutiérrez, Vice Minister of Information and Communication Technologies, participated in the session held by ARCOTEL (Agency for Regulation and Control of Telecommunications). The agency plays a central role in guaranteeing quality standards as well as technical regulation within Ecuador’s telecommunications sector.
Among achievements discussed were more than 2.5 million verifications performed by DINARP to protect personal data integrity. The Civil Registry reported issuing over three million identification cards to improve efficiency in public service delivery. CNT E.P., Ecuador’s national telecom operator, noted progress with its rollout of 5G technology through 120 radio bases across provinces including Pichincha, Guayas, and Santa Elena.
ARCOTEL emphasized its efforts throughout 2025 on maintaining high standards for technical control and regulatory compliance to ensure improved conditions for users nationwide. MINTEL reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with affiliated agencies to drive efficient and secure digital transformation across Ecuador.
