The Ministry of Telecommunications and Information Society (MINTEL) is expanding its presence in local communities by bringing digital services directly to citizens. This initiative is part of a coordinated national effort.

Between February 18 and 22, 2026, MINTEL is taking part in new social outreach events through informational stands for the Free Digital Points (PDG) project. These spaces are designed to guide people on how to access technology, connectivity, and available digital services.

Events are being held in Cotacachi, Imbabura province starting February 20 at 9:00 a.m., and in El Condado within Quito’s Metropolitan District, Pichincha province, on Saturday, February 21 from 9:00 a.m. Residents can learn about the benefits offered by the Free Digital Points program at both locations.

According to MINTEL, “With these actions, MINTEL reaffirms its commitment to continue working closely with citizens, bringing digital transformation to every territory and promoting digital inclusion as a key axis for the country’s development.”
