The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) presented its management report for the year 2025 on April 16, highlighting more than $12 million invested in road infrastructure projects across the province of Napo.
According to MIT officials, these investments aim to improve connectivity and safety throughout Napo by upgrading key transportation routes. The works covered a total of 397.3 kilometers in several strategic sectors within the province.
Gabriel Tintín, district director for Napo, said that support from the national government made possible actions such as maintenance along the “Y” de Baeza – Narupa – Coca route. This stretch covers 182.5 kilometers and serves as a vital link between the provinces of Napo and Sucumbíos. Tintín also pointed to interventions on route E20 at Los Laureles sector and maintenance work on the bridge over the Napo River, which is 200 meters long.
“We contracted 11 microenterprises to service 247.3 kilometers of our road network, which allowed us to generate approximately 82 direct jobs. In this way, we not only strengthened maintenance of our roads but also boosted the local economy and promoted community work, creating real opportunities for families in the territory,” Tintín said.
During the event, Yésica Aigaje, MIT’s zonal undersecretary for zone two, announced that new projects are planned for both roadways and housing in Napo province. She highlighted upcoming plans including paving work on route E436 Los Zorros along a section known as “Y” de Yuralpa – Campococha—24 kilometers with construction of fifteen bridges—which will further strengthen connections between Napo and Orellana provinces.
