The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture Zone 7 delivered new infrastructure on March 25 to the General Epiclachima Basic Education School in Zumbi parish, Centinela del Cóndor canton. The improvements include a sanitary facility and a recreational area, benefiting 340 students from early childhood through seventh grade.
The project aims to improve learning environments and ensure student well-being. The investment totaled $46,000 and included the construction of reinforced concrete structures, hydrosanitary installations with rainwater harvesting systems, LED lighting, and high-quality finishes. The recreational space was equipped with synthetic grass and modern playground equipment.
Favio Villamizar, Zone 7 Coordinator, said these actions are part of President Daniel Noboa Azín’s and Minister Gilda Alcívar García’s commitment to transforming education in what they call the “New Ecuador.” Villamizar said: “We want our girls and boys to feel comfortable and respected in their school environment because a dignified environment is the first step toward quality learning.”
Ángel Efraín Lapo Robalino, educational leader at the institution, expressed gratitude for achieving this long-awaited goal. “Thanks to agreements and teamwork, today we receive these spaces that are fundamental for our children in Initial and Preparatory,” he said.
Student Council president Génesis Álvarez also shared her appreciation on behalf of her classmates: “I am grateful for the bathrooms and playgrounds that will help us continue studying and improve in our studies.”
With this delivery, the Ministry reaffirms its mission to provide safe, comfortable school environments where play and hygiene are recognized as fundamental rights for quality learning.
