The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport announced on March 30 the start of a conservation contract for the Portoviejo–Montecristi road, covering the stretch from Bellavista Bridge to the intersection with Montecristi–La Cadena road along corridor E-30 in Manabí province. The project will span 21 kilometers and has an investment of USD 1.6 million, including tax.

The work includes improving the roadway by replacing damaged asphalt layers, sealing surface cracks, and carrying out minor asphalt patching. Additional tasks involve cleaning and channeling drainage systems, maintaining these systems, and installing both horizontal and vertical signage.

This route connects Portoviejo with Montecristi and facilitates travel to cities such as Manta and Jipijapa as well as linking with Guayas province. It is used regularly by more than 400,000 people.

The contract was signed with Consorcio Mantenimiento Vial for a period of 60 days. According to the ministry’s statement, this intervention is part of ongoing efforts by the Government of Nuevo Ecuador to keep roads in good condition, support productive mobility, and respond promptly to local needs.
