Minister of the Interior Diego Santilli attended the 20th edition of Expoagro – Edición YPF Agro in San Nicolás on March 13, where he participated in a discussion titled “Reforms to unleash Argentina’s productive potential.”
Santilli said that Argentina now has a president who is focused on removing bureaucratic obstacles to make the country more competitive. He stated, “Argentina has a President who came to set new priorities and remove bureaucratic barriers so that the country can be more competitive.”
During his presentation alongside Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries Sergio Iraeta, Santilli contrasted current government policies with those of previous administrations. He said there had been a shift from a government with record export taxes and frequent changes in regulations to one that “eliminated 20 taxes, reduced export duties on various grains, and completely eliminated them for regional economies.”
Santilli also highlighted the impact of the Medium Investment Incentive Regime, which was approved along with labor modernization measures. He explained that this initiative aims to promote new productive investments in agriculture by encouraging more machinery use, technology adoption, and infrastructure development. “With this tool we are promoting more machinery, more technology and more infrastructure, with tax benefits and early VAT refunds for those who invest and produce,” he said.
The minister further emphasized the importance of trade agreements with the United States and the European Union. He noted these deals will give Argentine producers access to markets of over 330 million and 450 million consumers respectively. “This means more exports, more investment and more production for Argentine agriculture,” Santilli said.
