Minister of Economy and Mining Daniel Mas said on April 2 that it is necessary to restore confidence in order to promote economic growth in the Biobío Region. Speaking at the IRADE 2026 Business Meeting, Mas addressed concerns about high unemployment rates affecting the area and highlighted the importance of encouraging investment as a way to reactivate the local economy.
The minister emphasized that achieving economic growth of around four percent is an essential condition for moving forward with plans to create approximately 300,000 new jobs nationwide. This target, he said, would help address current employment challenges faced by regions like Biobío.
Mas’s remarks come as business leaders and policymakers look for solutions to persistent unemployment and seek ways to strengthen regional economies. The focus on investment facilitation aligns with broader national efforts aimed at fostering job creation and supporting sustainable development.
Looking ahead, authorities expect that regaining investor confidence will be key in reaching growth objectives and improving labor market conditions across Chile.
