McDonald’s in Latin America is celebrating more than one million guests visiting its kitchens with a program that provides a peek behind the counter for customers to learn firsthand how their favorite meals are prepared.

The Open Doors program was launched in April 2014 in Mexico and brings greater transparency to the dining experience by enabling children and parents to see the quality and care that goes into their McDonald’s meals.

Last month, the tours finished rolling out to all 20 Latin American and Caribbean countries with restaurants operated by Arcos Dorados, the world’s largest McDonald’s franchisee. National Open Doors days were held, attracting thousands of visitors in a single day, to explore McDonald’s kitchens as well as make YouTube testimonials.

The Open Doors tour of McDonald’s kitchens shows how food is stored and prepared, what happens behind the counter and in the kitchen. Guests are also encouraged to visit the farms that grow McDonald’s produce and the ranches that raise McDonald’s beef.
