The Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture Zone 7 celebrated World Physical Activity Day on April 7 in Machala, organizing activities through its Actívate and Vamos a la Cancha programs. The event aimed to encourage sports and recreation as a way to reduce sedentary lifestyles.

The gathering took place at Zoila Ugarte Park in Machala, where children, youth, and adults participated in dance fitness classes, functional exercises, walks, and sports led by program instructors.

Similar activities were held in Loja and Zamora cantons. Organizers reported strong participation from local residents. The ministry said these efforts show that sports and recreation can have a positive impact on people’s lives.

Officials indicated that the Ministry of Education, Sport and Culture will continue offering free public initiatives like these to support physical activity among citizens.
