Navis, part of Cargotec Corp. and provider of operational technologies and services for terminal operators, announced yesterday that Libra Terminais Rio in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has successfully completed implementation of the Navis N4 Terminal Operating System.

Libra Terminais Rio is located within Brazil’s port of Rio de Janeiro, a port that houses one of the largest bonded warehouses in the region, and is equipped to handle reefer, cold storage and consolidated cargo. During Libra Terminais Rio’s expansion and implementation of N4, it increased its import/export warehousing area by 26 percent and storage capacity by 88 percent.

“The implementation of any terminal operating system can be a highly demanding process,” Celia Takano, information technology director at Libra Terminais Rio, said. “Fortunately, partnering with Navis’ knowledgeable team, the N4 TOS implementation process ran smoothly and we are happy with the results. With the implementation complete at Rio, and in progress at Santos, we are looking forward to raising the bar for the level of service we can offer our customers.”

As a technology partner, Navis focuses on operational performance from the beginning of implementation through terminal go-live and beyond. The implementation of the N4 system will help optimize operations and processes to achieve competitive advantages and improve customer satisfaction, as well as support Libra’s regional sustainability initiatives.
