José María Ponce was elected president of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Industries and Production for the 2026–2027 period, while Nicolás Maldonado will serve as vice president for the same term, according to a March 17 announcement. The appointments took place during a session that officially installed the new board, which will guide the organization’s activities over the next two years.
The board members highlighted the experience, leadership, and commitment of both Ponce and Maldonado. They said their ability to advance an agenda supporting national productive development would be important for strengthening the chamber’s role in promoting public policies that encourage investment, competitiveness, and job creation.
The election comes at a time when Ecuador’s productive sector faces significant challenges and opportunities. The leadership of the chamber is seen as essential for fostering dialogue, building consensus, and contributing actively to sustainable economic growth in Ecuador.
After their appointment, Ponce and Maldonado thanked the board for its trust. They reaffirmed their commitment to working closely with member companies as well as public and private sector stakeholders to strengthen the business environment and continue supporting initiatives that promote industrial development in the country.
