Iwao Nishitani will conclude his tenure as president and general manager of Ajinomoto del Perú on March 30, as he prepares to take up a new executive position at the company’s headquarters in Tokyo. The company announced that Normando Filho will succeed Nishitani as the new general manager starting April 1.
Nishitani’s leadership focused on aligning the organization with the Group’s 2030 Roadmap, emphasizing innovation, agility, and close leadership. He also worked to instill the ASV (Ajinomoto Group Creating Shared Value) philosophy throughout the workforce and recruited strategic talent for long-term growth.
His efforts included improving employee well-being by renovating workspaces and optimizing compensation structures across the region. “Trabajar en el Perú ha sido enriquecedor. Me llevo una gran admiración por el talento y la capacidad de este equipo para sacar adelante grandes ideas,” said Nishitani.
During his term, Ajinomoto del Perú implemented an investment strategy exceeding S/130 million through 2026, which covers expanding instant soup production capacity (S/32 million) and upgrading its AJI-NO-SILLAO plant (S/30 million). In its latest fiscal year, the company reported nearly S/800 million in revenue and significantly increased profitability by quadrupling operating profit over three years.
Nishitani will become Executive Officer of Green Business at Ajinomoto’s headquarters in Tokyo following his promotion to global senior management. Filho brings three decades of professional experience—including roles within Ajinomoto in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, and Thailand—to his new position leading operations in Peru.
