Grupo Exito says it is proud to contribute to the development of Colombia, according to a press release on the company’s website.
The company’s founder, Gustavo Toro Quintero, is from Antioquia and respects the different cultures in the region.
“Being the leading retail company in Colombia and South America has been possible thanks to the support of Colombians, our more than 42,000 employees, suppliers and allies, to our shareholders, investors and customers who have believed in us and who continue to accompany us,” Carlos Mario Diez, operating president of Colombian operations, said in the press release. “As Don Gustavo Toro said, ‘There are two ways to do things: good or bad’ we have followed his advice and we work every day to do them well, with love, passion and commitment to give the best of us to Colombia.”
The company is developing its real estate business through its Viva brand, which has over 6 million square feet of rental commercial space, 13 shopping centers and 16 commercial galleries.
Grupo Exito is the largest private employer in Colombia, with more than 42,000 employees. The company offers more than 100 benefits in its employment package. Last year, it invested more than $85 billion in housing, education, training programs and similar benefits.

Grupo Exito also obtains 86 percent of the produce it sells from small producers and national farmers, the release said.
Additionally, the company said it supports childhood nutrition through its Exito Foundation.
