The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has started maintenance and rehabilitation work on the E-15 Bolívar road in the Bolívar parish of Muisne canton, Esmeraldas province. The project covers 4.487 kilometers and involves an investment of more than USD 2.7 million, including tax.
Funding for the project was transferred by MIT to the Provincial Autonomous Government of Esmeraldas through a specific cooperation agreement. This partnership aims to address local priorities by coordinating efforts between national and provincial authorities.
The planned works include road resurfacing, construction of drainage systems, application of an asphalt concrete layer, and installation of both vertical and horizontal signage. These improvements are expected to enhance road infrastructure and increase safety for drivers and pedestrians.
The rehabilitation is intended to benefit residents in Bolívar parish and Muisne canton by improving transportation for agricultural, fishing, and commercial products. It is also expected to reduce travel times and strengthen local competitiveness.
At the inauguration event, Zonal Subsecretary Juan Echeverría spoke on behalf of MIT. He said that President Daniel Noboa and Minister Luque are fulfilling their commitment to Esmeraldas with tangible projects that have long been awaited: “Today these decisions are being turned into actions that boost regional development.”
Provincial Prefect Roberta Zambrano emphasized the importance of coordination between the National Government and the Provincial Government in carrying out projects that improve quality of life: “These initiatives dignify the people of Esmeraldas.”
Yuri Colorado, mayor of Muisne, expressed her gratitude to President Daniel Noboa and Minister Roberto Luque: “After more than 100 years of waiting, today this historic aspiration finally comes true. Thank you, Mr. President, for your commitment to Muisne!”
With this project underway, national authorities reaffirm their support for reconstruction efforts, productive recovery, and sustainable development in Esmeraldas by promoting modern road infrastructure for citizens’ benefit.
