The government announced on March 25 that it is investing more than USD 3.6 million in housing and has completed key infrastructure projects to improve connectivity in the province of Napo.
These initiatives are intended to enhance quality of life and strengthen transport links for residents of the Amazon region. The announcement comes as part of a series of actions by the administration aimed at supporting vulnerable sectors through social policy measures.
Minister Roberto Luque visited Archidona to inspect land designated for the construction of 140 social interest homes, which will provide safe and adequate housing for local families. The project is described as part of national efforts to ensure access to dignified living conditions.
In addition, Luque reviewed progress on the E45 Baeza-Narupa-Coca road corridor, a project with an investment exceeding USD 30 million. Work along this route includes asphalt paving, horizontal and vertical signage across its 182 kilometers, and addressing critical points to promote safer travel. Maintenance strategies are being applied over more than half the corridor’s length so far.
Other supervised works include technical solutions for slope stabilization and roadbed recovery on key sections such as Virgen de Guacamayos and Laureles along the Baeza-Papallacta route. As part of these activities, maintenance was delivered for the viaduct over the Napo River on axis E45 at a cost of USD 639 thousand, improving mobility between Tena and Carlos Julio Arosemena Tola for over 100,000 residents.
Additionally, officials oversaw groundbreaking work on a new road connecting Pivichikta with several communities—a project valued at USD 2.3 million expected to benefit more than 33,000 people by supporting regional integration, tourism development, and commerce.
These measures are presented as evidence of continued commitment by authorities toward fostering development in Ecuador’s Amazon region through targeted investments in both social housing and vital transportation infrastructure.
