The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport (MIT) has delivered 54 property titles to families in the towns of Guano, Alausí, Chambo, and Riobamba as part of the Creamos Patrimonio program. This initiative aims to provide legal security over land ownership for rural residents.
During the event, Gladys Velasco, Subsecretary for Zone 3, stated: “Desde el Gobierno Nacional continuaremos trabajando para que más ciudadanos ejerzan su derecho a la propiedad, transformando realidades y fortaleciendo el desarrollo rural del país” (“From the National Government we will continue working so that more citizens exercise their right to property, transforming realities and strengthening the rural development of the country”).
María José Del Pozo, governor of Chimborazo province, highlighted coordinated efforts to make state services accessible. “Hoy, 54 familias reciben un documento que les otorga seguridad y dignidad. Esto representa justicia social y desarrollo para nuestra provincia” (“Today, 54 families receive a document that gives them security and dignity. This represents social justice and development for our province”), she said.
Elmer Delgado spoke on behalf of those receiving titles: “Han sido años de espera. Hoy tenemos la certeza de que nuestro terreno nos pertenece legalmente. Esto nos brinda tranquilidad y esperanza para invertir y mejorar nuestra vivienda” (“It has been years of waiting. Today we are certain that our land legally belongs to us. This gives us peace of mind and hope to invest and improve our home”).
The Creamos Patrimonio program works nationwide to regularize rural properties by providing legal certainty for landowners. The government says this helps families access credit and improves living conditions.
This action is part of a broader goal by the National Government to provide 200,000 housing solutions across Ecuador.
