The Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the National Transit Agency, and the Ecuador Transit Commission announced on April 2 a coordinated operation to ensure safe mobility for citizens during the Easter holiday period.
The operation is scheduled to begin at noon on Thursday, April 2, and will continue until midnight on Sunday, April 5. Authorities said this initiative aims to maintain road safety and support tourism throughout the country during one of its busiest travel periods.
According to officials, the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport will deploy 188 technical staff and operators along with 216 roadwork vehicles such as dump trucks and backhoes. Additionally, there will be 22 road patrol units in service. The ministry is also working with local road maintenance microenterprises to allow for rapid response in case of geographic or weather-related incidents that could disrupt traffic flow.
The Ecuador Transit Commission plans to mobilize more than 5,000 transit agents and nearly 450 patrol units for preventive monitoring across highways, toll booths, and bus terminals. Meanwhile, the National Transit Agency will increase security at transportation terminals through inspection operations and awareness campaigns designed to prevent accidents.
To keep travelers informed about current road conditions in each province, authorities said that continuous monitoring is being conducted alongside ECU 911 emergency services. Updated information is available through official channels provided by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport.
Officials stated that these control operations are activated nationwide so citizens can safely enjoy various tourist attractions during the Easter holiday.
