The government, through the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, announced on April 2 that it is advancing work on the E45 “Y” de Baeza – Narupa – Coca road. The project, which covers 182.5 kilometers, has reached a physical progress of 60 percent.
Authorities led by Yésica Aigaje, Subsecretary for Zone 2, along with technical teams and the construction company, have evaluated at least 48 critical points along the route. These include bridges, slopes, and road surfaces—some already under repair while others are scheduled for short-term intervention.
Immediate actions being carried out include terracing work, installation of culverts, and construction of retaining walls to ensure continuous and safe passage for about 5,000 daily users. This corridor connects the provinces of Pichincha, Napo, and Orellana as part of the Troncal Amazónica.
Aigaje said there has been progress in laying permanent asphalt from Coca to Loreto as well as in sections between Baeza and La Virgen de Guacamayos where a second asphalt layer is being applied. She added that final signage will be completed in coming days. Aigaje also said that these interventions not only improve connectivity but also generate direct employment: currently around 100 families benefit through microenterprises responsible for routine maintenance such as vegetation trimming and drainage cleaning.
As part of their inspection tour authorities reviewed progress on new bridges including Indillama, Cóndor, Salado Bajo and Salado Alto located on E45A between Coca and Dayuma. The government reiterated its commitment to responsibly carry out works that improve citizens’ quality of life.
