Fenalco and ANDI, organizations representing the automotive sector, announced on May 4 that new vehicle registrations reached 100,446 units between January and April of 2026. This marks a cumulative increase of 49.3% compared to the same period in 2025.
The report highlights signs of recovery in the market, with positive trends consolidating over recent months. The organizations said that only in April there were 26,787 vehicles registered, representing a rise of 54% compared to April of last year. This data reflects growing demand and ongoing reactivation within the sector.
A notable aspect was the strong performance of vehicles using new technologies. According to Fenalco and ANDI, electric vehicle registrations increased by 304% over April 2025 to reach a total of 5,192 units. Hybrid vehicles also saw significant growth with an increase of 76%, totaling 7,476 units for the month.
By segment, sport utility vehicles (SUVs) led growth with an increase of 73.2%. Passenger commercial vehicles rose by 71%, while cargo commercial vehicles grew by 40.5%, all compared to figures from April last year.
Regionally, Bogotá D.C. showed the highest growth rate at 108%. Medellín (Valle de Aburrá) followed with a rise of 76%, while Armenia recorded a gain of 68%. Villavicencio and Rionegro also stood out with increases of both around or above half compared to last year.
The organizations said these results indicate favorable conditions for the automotive sector as cleaner technologies gain importance and different segments strengthen their positions.
