Engility Holdings recently signed a five-year contract to provide technical and administrative support to the Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Regional Office for the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Office of Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA).

The LAC regional office in San Jose, Costa Rica covers 27 countries in the area.

In emergency cases, the Engility team will perform damage assessments and provide guidance on disaster response efforts to host country governments and local stakeholders. The team also will provide year-round technical assistance that includes overseeing instruction in disaster management concepts, training methodologies and related technical disciplines.

“This award validates OFDA’s trust and confidence in Engility to support ongoing efforts to refine and enhance USAID’s emergency response capabilities in the LAC region,” Engility CEO Tony Smeraglinolo said. “Our team has supported USAID and this program for more than 15 years, and we appreciate the opportunity to continue our work on this critical program with USAID/OFDA.”

The contract, worth up to $35 million, covers one guaranteed year and four optional years.
