The Ministry of Public Health in Ecuador has provided dental and laboratory supplies to improve healthcare services for over 111,000 residents in the Pujilí, Saquisilí, and Sigchos cantons of Cotopaxi province. The initiative is part of a government effort to strengthen primary healthcare in the region.
According to the Ministry, this action is being carried out under the strategic leadership of Vice President María José Pinto. “Esta acción se desarrolla bajo el liderazgo estratégico de la vicepresidenta de la República, María José Pinto, quien encabeza el fortalecimiento de la salud primaria en las provincias del país,” stated the Ministry.
The supplies distributed have a total investment exceeding USD 64,000. The goal is to provide vulnerable communities with necessary tools for preventive diagnosis and quality care.
As part of efforts to address childhood anemia, microcuvettes were delivered. These devices allow for rapid measurement of hemoglobin levels in children. “Para combatir la anemia infantil se entregaron microcubetas, una herramienta crucial que permite medir niveles de hemoglobina de niñas y niños, en pocos segundos,” said officials from the Ministry. This equipment supports early detection and timely control of anemia through quick diagnostics at health centers and mobile medical brigades.
In addition to laboratory supplies, dental kits were also provided. These include fluoride trays, diamond burs, restorative resins and ionomers, as well as specialized polishing kits.
“Con la entrega de medicamentos e insumos, el Gobierno del Nuevo Ecuador reafirma su compromiso con el uso responsable de los recursos públicos y la atención integral de las familias ecuatorianas,” affirmed government representatives.
The program aims to ensure that essential medical resources reach underserved populations and supports immediate intervention during early childhood years.
