Sales in Ecuador reached USD 20.473 billion in February 2026, marking an increase of USD 1.613 billion compared to the same month in 2025, according to electronic invoice records.

This represents a year-on-year growth rate of 8.6%. The data comes at a time when Ecuador has introduced a security fee on imports from Colombia. The measure aims to strengthen border controls, reinforce national security, and improve management of foreign trade in strategic areas.

So far, the new regulation has not caused significant changes in transaction volumes. Authorities say this indicates it is possible to enhance national security while maintaining economic activity and stability.

The National Government reaffirmed its intention to continue implementing measures that protect citizens, promote formal commerce, and support productive growth in Ecuador.
