The Government of Nuevo Ecuador, led by President Daniel Noboa, announced on March 10 that the expansion of the E25 highway between Santo Domingo and Buena Fe has reached 70 percent completion. The project is being carried out by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Undersecretariat of Delegations.
The expansion is considered a strategic infrastructure initiative for Ecuador. It involves widening a 113-kilometer stretch to four lanes under a 30-year concession model managed by concessionaire Santo Domingo CRSD S.A. The estimated investment for this project is USD 560 million.
Construction activities include earthworks, ground stabilization, and building a high-strength road structure with compacted stone material and an asphalt pavement layer. The project also features drainage systems, horizontal and vertical signage, slope stabilization, and ongoing maintenance to improve safety and traffic flow.
According to officials, modernizing this key route will connect the provinces of Santo Domingo de los Tsáchilas, Guayas, Los Ríos, and Pichincha more efficiently. Approximately 925,000 residents are expected to benefit from improved commerce and easier travel between coastal and highland regions.
Authorities say that with this work, the E25 will become an essential corridor for national development by strengthening territorial integration, boosting economic activity, and creating new opportunities for thousands of Ecuadorian families.
