Dollar $tore Mall de los Andes opened its doors to the public on April 17, offering a wide selection of general merchandise and grocery items at prices under $5.00. The new store is located at Av. Atahualpa and Av. Víctor Hugo, inside the Mall de los Andes shopping center in Ambato, Tungurahua province.

The opening marks Dollar $tore’s thirteenth location nationwide and its first in Ambato, making it the eighth city in Ecuador to host this retail format. The store covers more than 380 square meters of sales area and features three checkout counters. It operates Monday through Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Sundays and holidays from 10:00 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

According to the company, Dollar $tore offers over 12,000 products with about sixty percent being imported brands and forty percent national brands across categories such as groceries, personal care, beauty products, toys, party supplies, home goods, pet accessories, sports equipment, hardware items, automotive supplies, clothing for all ages, footwear, office materials and school supplies.

Corporación Favorita said that human talent remains a priority for the company; with this opening in central Ecuador it now employs more than eight hundred people across various formats locally. The construction phase of this new location generated forty-seven indirect jobs during different stages of site preparation.

Dollar $tore began operations in Ecuador in 2023 with an aim to provide customers access to unique products for every occasion at affordable prices all under one roof.

Corporación Favorita was founded in Quito in 1952 as a small home goods business before becoming the country’s first self-service retailer five years later. Today it operates subsidiaries across commercial sectors including services and real estate both domestically and internationally with over twenty-four thousand direct employees between Ecuador and Panama.
