CAF, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean, reaffirmed its support for Chile’s incoming government during a meeting between Sergio Díaz-Granados, CAF’s executive president, and President-elect José Antonio Kast. The meeting took place in Santiago on Mar. 10 as part of Díaz-Granados’ visit to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony. Foreign minister-designate Francisco Perez Mackenna also participated in the discussions.
The purpose of the meeting was to express CAF’s institutional support for the new administration and to identify areas where the bank can contribute to Chile’s development priorities in the coming years.
In recent years, CAF has increased its involvement in Chile by supporting private sector initiatives, small and medium-sized enterprises, clean energy transitions, social loans, transportation and logistics infrastructure projects, as well as financing strategic companies related to mobility and foreign trade. This ongoing engagement demonstrates CAF’s belief that sustainable development in Chile is closely linked to strengthening its productive sector.
“Chile is a country that the region admires. Today, with a new government committed to the growth and welfare of its people, we want to reaffirm that CAF will be wherever Chile needs us. We have the vocation, experience and capacity to accompany this process with the same conviction with which we have accompanied the region for more than five decades,” said Sergio Díaz-Granados.
CAF reiterated its willingness to serve as a long-term partner for Chile as it embarks on this new phase under President-elect Kast.
