The Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC) was represented by Marcelo Elizondo, director of CAC and president of ICC Argentina, at the General Assembly of the World Chambers Federation. The event took place in Brussels on April 27 and brought together representatives from the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the World Chambers Federation (WCF), Eurochambres, the European Commission, government officials, private sector leaders, and academics.
Elizondo spoke during a session focused on revitalizing the multilateral trade system. The assembly addressed key developments in implementing global priorities for chambers worldwide. Particular attention was given to strengthening chambers’ roles as service platforms for the private sector, advancing digital transformation initiatives, modernizing essential tools such as the ATA Carnet system, and reviewing governance mechanisms to improve coordination between national ICC committees and chambers.
Elizondo also held meetings with John Denton, secretary general of ICC; Julian Kassum, deputy secretary general of ICC and director of WCF; and Dominic Boucsein from Eurochambres. These discussions aimed to reinforce CAC’s international presence.
Additionally, opportunities for cooperation between Eurochambres and CAC were explored regarding future implementation of the European Union–Mercosur agreement. The talks focused on promoting business development programs and supporting company internationalization efforts.
According to CAC officials present at the event, active participation in these forums strengthens their influence on international agendas and consolidates their position within multilateral systems.
