The Banco Central de la República Argentina (BCRA) and the Deutsche Bundesbank signed a technical cooperation agreement, according to a March 17 announcement. The agreement was signed by Santiago Bausili, president of the BCRA, and Burkhard Balz, member of the board of the Deutsche Bundesbank.
The purpose of this agreement is to strengthen the capabilities of the BCRA through training programs and specialized advisory services. The focus will be on adopting international best practices and achieving concrete results in the bank’s technical management.
The agreement outlines a joint work agenda that includes training activities and advisory sessions aimed at tangible improvements in technical operations. It also provides for organizing seminars and expert panels both virtually and in person, to be held in Argentina and Germany. For operational implementation, the BCRA’s International Affairs Management Office and the Bundesbank’s Centre for International Central Bank Dialogue have been designated as responsible units. Both institutions will hold annual planning and evaluation meetings to agree on their technical agenda.
The cooperation framework is set to remain in effect until the end of 2030, with an option for renewal by mutual consent. According to the release, this collaboration is expected to contribute to strengthening institutional capacities at the BCRA, support adoption of international standards, and deepen its integration into the global central banking community.
