Alicorp has launched the “Campaña Turronera” to support the growth of artisanal pastry-making in Peru. The campaign centers on the traditional “turrón” or “turrón de doña Pepa,” a dessert closely linked to Lima’s October festivities honoring the Señor de los Milagros, with origins dating back to the 17th century.

One of the key ingredients in turrón is lard, a product included in Alicorp’s FAMOSA brand portfolio, which is widely used by bakeries across Peru.

The initiative, titled “Que tu panadería se vuelva famosa” (“Make your bakery famous”), aims to encourage bakers to prepare turrones and highlights this tradition as a profitable business opportunity that can help their establishments grow. Alicorp also invited its clients to take part in scheduled events and enjoy what it calls the “turronera experience.” The main event was a contest among Alicorp’s bakery clients who competed to make the best turrón.

The judging panel consisted of expert bakers and representatives from Alicorp. They evaluated entries based on creativity, presentation, and taste. Judges included Jesús Alzamora, Rosalyn Picón, Carlos Chávez, and ten internal collaborators from Alicorp.

Winners were announced as follows:
– First place: Berisso (winning for the second consecutive year)
– Second place: Huerfanos
– Third place: Turrones Diaz

“Empezamos a preparar turrón desde la fundación Berisso, en 1938. Vender turrones en esta época del año nos beneficia, porque agrego un producto adicional, y eso beneficia a mi negocio,” said Luis Antonio Berisso Solari, Manager of Panadería Berisso.

Through this campaign, Alicorp states that it is renewing its commitment to developing artisanal Peruvian pastry-making while strengthening relationships with its clients and celebrating a tradition that brings together thousands of families each October.
