Ajinomoto del Perú announced on March 10 that it has donated play spaces made from recycled plastic to educational institutions in Ventanilla. The furniture was created using 86 kilograms of trilaminate plastic collected from the company’s marketing campaign packaging, materials that are typically difficult to recycle.
The initiative aims to promote circular economy solutions by giving a second life to these plastics. More than 90 students now use the new pieces, which were crafted from plastic wood. This material is noted for its high resistance to the coastal climate conditions in Ventanilla, where humidity and salt can quickly damage conventional wood.
According to Ajinomoto del Perú, the plastic wood used for the furniture underwent testing in specialized laboratories to certify its strength and safety for school environments. The company said this ensures the products are suitable for daily use by children.
Ajinomoto del Perú stated that with this project, it reaffirms its commitment to reducing environmental impact by 2030. The company also highlighted its ongoing efforts through strategic partnerships to generate positive social value for the community.
The broader implication of this donation is an example of how companies can contribute both environmentally and socially by repurposing waste materials into useful products for local communities.
