Full-service law firm Thompson & Knight recently welcomed back a father and son attorney team to its Monterrey-based corporate and securities practice group.

Alejandro F. Sanchez Mujica will once again become the firm's senior counsel, while his son Alejandro A. Sanchez-Mujica A. will serve as counsel. Both are licensed to practice law in Mexico, are fluent in English and Spanish and have practiced at Riviera Gaxiola y Carrasco y Carrasco y Sanchez Mujica.

Alejandro F. served in senior partner and counsel roles at Thompson & Knight from 2003 through 2012. In addition to being a counsel for one of the world's leading glass producers for eight years, he was also an in-house counsel for two large Mexican corporations: one covering the areas of insurance, telemarketing, agrobiotechnology, construction and financing, and the other focused on pharmaceuticals, pharmochemicals, petrochemicals and agribusiness. Alejandro F. worked at those two companies for a combined total of more than 17 years.

Alejandro A. was an associate at the Am Law 200 firm from 2007 to 2012 and can advise on a variety of issues including licensing agreements, copyrights and foreign investments.

Thompson & Knight's Monterrey office provides legal counsel to clients doing business or considering doing business in Mexico and Latin America.

"Alejandro F. and Alejandro A. strengthen our presence in Mexico and their expertise greatly complements our Mexico energy industry strategy," Gabriel Ruiz, leader of Thompson & Knight's Monterrey office and partner in the firm's International Energy Practice Group, said. "They will be an asset to our clients who conduct business in or with Mexico amidst the opening of Mexico's energy sector and beyond. We are delighted to welcome them back to the firm."
