CKE Restaurants Holdings Inc. recently celebrated the opening of its 200th Carl's Jr. franchise in Mexico.

With the opening of two new locations in November, CKE said it is now moving toward opening its 300th Carl's Jr. franchise in Mexico by 2019.

“Mexico is a vibrant food service market and our brand has a strong track record of success across the country thanks to a solid base of outstanding franchisees," CKE International Division President Ned Lyerly said. "In fact, the country is a flagship market for Carl’s Jr. and hosts some of the highest volume, best operated restaurants in the CKE system. In recent years, we have experienced double-digit same store sales increases and double-digit new unit growth. We’ve grown from our very first franchisee in 1991 to a total of 23 franchisees throughout the country today."

Junior Foods was the first licensee in Mexico and now is the largest licensee in Mexico, operating 42 locations.

"At the time, Mexico was severely lacking in fast food options and we knew that Carl’s Jr.’s offerings of delicious, innovative menu items at a reasonable price would resonate with customers here in Mexico,” Junior Foods President Raul Ramonfaur said.

Opening new locations in Mexico is part of CKE's global strategy of adding more than 1,000 fast food restaurants to its portfolio across the Middle East, Latin America, Asia and Europe.
