Uber partners with Azuga in Mexico

Taxi-app service Uber partnered with Azuga, a car technology that providers real-time data on speeding, braking and unauthorized vehicle use to car owners, in Mexico on Tuesday.

Azuga was chosen as an official service provider for the Uber’s Mexico division for its capability to track drivers, reduce liability and decrease costs.

"I have used Azuga for the past year and have been pleased with the price, usability and data that it has provided," C Padilla, an Uber driver in Mexico City, said. "I am able to see the behavior of my drivers in real time and know when they do something wrong, which proactively prevents abuse."

Uber car owners who have implemented Azuga’s plug-and-play device into their fleets have already seen a 72 percent decrease in accidents, 14 percent decrease in fuel consumption, 10 percent decrease in maintenance cost and a 12 percent decrease in operational costs.

“The convenience and passenger safety features of Uber are just a few reasons why the service is widely utilized by families, vacationers and business people alike in Mexico,” Jose Marsal, commercial director of Azuga Latin America, said. “Azuga’s technology has not only contributed to a better experience for the passenger, but it has also helped the vehicle owners simultaneously save money, benefiting everyone involved.”
